:) Too bad so many people really think that this is possible. Funny though!

It’s almost an everyday occurrence, right? Yeah, I watch CSI. Enhance the imagery and read the license plate of a car across the parking lot from the crappy little camera in the ATM. You betcha. A perfect image pops out with the plate clearly visible.

Don’t you also love how all the data on literally everything is also always available? Or how it’s only available to that one nerdy “geek” with glasses and a PDA-like device?

Oh! Let’s also not forget how every camera that’s ever been run on electricity is also somehow “hackable” or how every locked door, especially ones with keypads, are always easily bypassed too.

This stuff is great. I’m ROTFLMAO!

Very funny cheered me up month end thanks

Chloe could do it! She could even zoom in on license plates to read the numbers, even if the sattelite was directly above.

  6. BigTech

It’s funny until you have to explain to your clients that no, you cannot zoom in and enhance a picture of a guy standing in a crowd 40 feet away on a hazy day.

When they said a larger version was available if you can’t read the text, they should’ve said “If you need to ‘enhance’ it.”

  8. Ushindi

Hey, I see this in the movies all the time, AA – it MUST be true…:-)

  9. Riddle

ahahaha , the text needs to be “enhanced” because it is too small .

It can work if you have enough single frames to put into one enhanced frame. They use the same technology used in astronomy to enhance 100 blurry images of mars into one sharp image, complete with ‘canals’ and clouds. They found out out that even blurred anonomous TV images, like interviews with people afraid of being killed for speaking, can be enhanced back if there are enough frames to work with. Anyone can get the software from various astronomy sights.

Like Riker say, It’s do-able. It’s just that security cameras usually aren’t equipped to capture really hi-def pics.

  12. bobro

wait… they use very very expensive and detailed cameras with massively long exposure times in astronmy…

side point on that… wasnt the ‘canals’ thing with mars all a bunch of hocum and the guy who saw them had either scratches on the lens or dodgy eyes or something?

so yeah you can make good pics from lots of other pics but the data has to be there in some way.. these ‘enhancing’ the atm camera things on CSI to catch the numberplate of the speeding car in the reflection of the guys watch in the building across the road just cant! the data is not there… that said, there are things that can be done to help if the data is there… streight out is turn it black and white as the human eye can pick out details better, make things lighter, and there are touch ups that can be done to clear an image (a bit).

have heard that photoshop are bringing out or have brought out a tool that if you moved when taking the pic and it blured it can work out which direction it blured and un blur it ?!?!? awesome if true

The Blade Runner PC game that came out (quite) a few years ago was particularly guilty of this. Enhancing images would actually let you ROTATE them, so that you could, for example, clearly see the killer’s face starting with an image of the back of his head.

I take it as fiction and watch it as such. If someone actually believes these things are possible in real life… that’s their sad outlook.

Kinda reminds me of a citizens revue board from the 60s that was studying a shooting where a policeman shot an armed suuspect. One of the people on the board asked; “Couldn’t you have just shot the gun out of his hands?”
