Before I clicked on the page, I said to myself….. bet its Toshiba! :) And truthfully , it played a part in me buying my Asus G74Sx instead of the Qosmio. I’ll never forget when I opened my LAST Satellite from Toshiba. Not trying to knock ’em but , well you know.
Yeah, that’s annoying, but very easily avoided. Just do a fresh install whenever you buy a new PC, it’s much better to do it that way regardless. Gets rid of the bloatware and you get to customize some aspects of the installation. As a side note, I think Toshiba’s hardware is great. Get rid of the bloatware and enjoy.
I sure hope Toshiba never gets into Linux. Ubuntu has enough problems! ;-)
+1 about the hardware being good… even though they don’t make it themselves anymore…
And you wonder why people say Windows is so slow/crappy
Revo would like a few words with those apps.
Is it bad if I have like 3/4 of these on my Toshiba Satellite right now
almost looks as bad as an older h/p
“Humorous Image” ?
More like “Rage Inducing Image”…
I would gladly pay a little bit more to not have all this “useful” stuff installed on a new laptop!
@Jonathan — Is it bad if I have like 3/4 of these on my Toshiba Satellite right now?
Not sure whether you actually need an answer, or you’re just being facetious.
Use ‘autoruns’ from microsoft, or msconfig, to prevent programs you don’t use, or don’t use a lot, from starting automatically every time you start Windows.
If you were just kidding, and don’t need this answer, don’t read it. ;)
That’s my Toshiba! I can’t believe all the rubbish on it.
And as for the suggestion of a clean install – you shouldn’t have to do that with a new machine. You don’t buy a new washing machine with fluff or a car with empty coffee cups or a refrigerator with food past its use by date yet computer manufacturers feel compelled to stuff their goods with crap. Rather they should ensure that we have a clean install from the get go.
So, how about a disc of extras? Or a simple 4gb USB stick – they’re cheap. That way if you don’t like it, at least you could reformat it for your own use.
Just a thought…
The technical name for the sound of a rumbling stomach is “borborygmus”, the sound made by the movement of fluid and gas in the intestinal tract.
