YouTube Releases Native Wii App
Watching YouTube videos on the Wii just got a whole lot easier; YouTube’s native Wii app streamlines the process and cuts out the need for the Internet Channel browser.
Previous to this release you had to use the $5 Internet Channel and the Opera Browser to access YouTube. It worked but it wasn’t elegant by any means. The new YouTube Wii app sports a clean interface, simple Wiimote-based controls, and all the great YouTube content you can handle.
The app is free but currently U.S. only. According to the press release, the app will be rolled out to other countries in the coming months.

Wow, I have no words. The Wii U is coming out for USA in 2 days time and they release a Youtube App for the Wii now? Since when did Google become Slowpoke?
The Wii’s Internet Channel has been free for the past 3 years, actually. Not a super important fact, but just thought that it should be said.
Wow, I noticed this yesterday when I tried to go on the store and buy Harvest Moon. First firmware update since 2010, I guess they slipped in the wii u upgrade functionality.
Nice. (In my mind: YEAH!! Finally! No stupid Internet Channel now!! Let’s celebrate! Party! Funny YouTube videos on the TV!)
