How to Turn Off the Typing Sound on Your Windows Surface Tablet

The Windows Surface tablet, like most touch devices, comes with an on screen keyboard which makes a clicking sound every time you tap a key. This becomes very annoying, so here’s how to disable it.

How to Turn off the Keyboard Clicks on the Windows Surface

Swipe in from the right hand side of the Surface to open the Charms bar, then tap on the Settings Charm.

Then tap on the Change PC settings button.

This will open the new Modern UI Control Panel. Then switch over to the General section.

On the right hand side you will see a setting to “Play key sounds as you type”,  move the slider to the off position.

That’s all there is to it, peace and quiet at last.

Well everybody can do that! Like the search charm history thing.

With the moniker of “Charms” I half expect a menu to pop out with a pink background and glittering with faux gems.
