Can’t download this picture without downloading download manager. That SUCKS!
Why can’t you just show the picture full screen so I can save it?
@Yancey – Huh?? You do not need to use/access a download manager to get the wallpaper. All that you need to do once you navigate to the Wallpaper Abyss page is right click on the wallpaper image and save it using the context menu in order to save the original size image to your computer.
And up in the left-hand corner, below the “Download 1920×1080 Now”, it gives me a choice for MY resolution – “1776×1000 Cropped” or “1776×1000 Stretched” – I always click the “Cropped”, myself, and adjust the resulting crop to what I think is best for me.
Maybe you have to join for this automatic service (I have no idea; I’ve been a member for quite a while), but it’s completely free to join and you don’t get SPAM from them – honest!
I also have no idea what the “Download Manager” is, never having come across it in the years I’ve been downloading there.
That ship is both ugly and beautiful at the same time. I looked at his blog, and a lot of his designs are like that, but I generally like them. I’d like to see him work on a future Star Trek show designing ships/sets. He seems pretty talented. Voyager was also ugly when I first saw it (to me) and it grew on me. The only thing I still disagree with is the nacelles that raise when it goes to warp. There are no aerodynamics in space; seems to me they just did it to be cute. After the first episode, Torres should have said “let’s disable the nacelle pivot and save 1% of our energy”. Every little bit helps.
As for the wallpaper site, none of them (except perhaps Imgur) are any good. They all take images from other people and set them up in a way to deliver the most ads to you. There’s a reason you can’t just click your resolution and get the image. They want to make their money.
I had no problem with the wallpaper. IE 8
Anything Star Trek is cool with me.
From what I’ve read about the pivoting nacelle’s: their movement alters the subwarp fields like moving two super magnets towards eachother, the fields change and merge overlapping the wave forms to strengthen the waves. They work together to create perfect resonance which amplifies the waves like sound waves. The oposite would be like the noise cancelling headphones whose purpose is to de-resonate (neutralize) the waves. ;-)
The Intrepid Class (the USS Voyager was an Intrepid Class ship) was supposed to be very efficient for how fast it could go by pivoting the nacelles to better manipulate it warp field. However, it was meant to be gradual, so low warp would show the nacelles not moving at all, and then the more you wanted to warp space the more they would move up/towards each other. It makes sense within the made up physics of the show, but they forgot their own good idea and just had them down for sub-light, up for warp, which is stupid and pointless.
That show only lived up to about 9% of its potential on every front. What a waste.
Gold, a highly ductile element, can easily be stretched into a long and thin wire. One ounce of gold will yield a wire fifty miles long.
