Bar Table Modded Into Standing Desk
This polished looking standing desk combines a stand alone bar-height counter with extra storage, cable management, and monitor riser. The end result looks like a $$$$ standing desk at a fraction of the price.
Courtesy of IKEA hacker Marc Marton, the build combines the Billsta Bar Table, the Ekby Alex Shelf, and Besta legs to raise the shelf up off the desk and create a keyboard storage area. For more information about the build hit up the link below.

are ‘sitting down desks’ too uncool now?
…it doesn’t get much better than being obligated to stand at a desk in front of a wall
Someone please explain to me why on earth standing desks are so cool… Because I really don’t get it.
In the near future everyone will be standing all the time, even when sleeping (like cows).
So, we have to start somewhere.
Personally, I’d cut the legs down and spend more on a nice comfy chair.
…personally, I’d make it global law that all “standing desk” creators & designers have to use their product at work & home
Get a barstool to sit at it. (Obvious)
Personally I would find this a good change from sitting on a low chair all the time. Plus it may actually fit in some places a regular desk would not. Either antithetically or practically.
Plus when you have a party just stuff the computer away and pretend your really trendy having a bar table and chairs and such…
Standing desks are “cool” because they are much better for you– for your posture, your energy levels, your weight, and your health overall. Even if you work out every day for an hour, you’re still not undoing the damage you can cause to your body by sitting all day.
The best combination is to switch between standing and sitting– best for your metabolism, your joints, muscles, blood flow, etc.
I hate to sound overenthusiastic about this, but I use a NextDesk these days and it has really changed my life (not over exaggerating.) It’s an adjustable height desk so I switch between sitting and standing, but I stand for most of the day. I have more energy, I’ve lost weight, I have better posture. I really feel better.
Anyway, I love this thing and I recommend it to anyone: http://www.nextdesks.com/models
I use the “Terra” but there are tons of other options as well. Enjoy!
