This mashup combines Google Maps with hundreds of maps from the David Rumsey Historical Map Collection, layering maps from 1680 to 1930 over historical locations around the world. It’s a fascinating look at what has changed and what has remained static over the years.
Hit up the link below to browse the full map and zoom in on cities and locations of interest–make sure to check out the right side toolbar where you can adjust the transparency of the old maps over the new city grids to really appreciate the changes.
