Been there, done that! ;)
Sad but true.
My Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHz router saves many yards of wiring. It reaches my wife’s Mac 30 feet away, and gets through 2 walls to my laptop in the kitchen. The only machine that sometimes needs a hard wire is the laptop that I use as my main computer: a Gateway NV57H15u that is just a yard away from the router! Go figure.
When I used just a hub instead of a router, we needed to run a very long wire to each of the distant computers, easy to trip over and disconnect. Wireless is definitely the way to go.
