Play Minecraft Classic as a Free In-Browser Game

Whether you can’t get enough Minecraft or you’ve never started playing it, you can hop right into your browser and play a classic edition of the game for free.

Unlike the free peeks you get at many games, this isn’t a partial peek at the current version of Minecraft. It’s a full release of an early version, setup so you can play the full game. It’s a great way to play around with Minecraft, see what all the fuss is about, and even save your creations to work on later. Hit up the link below to get started.

this has been around for quite some time

It does not really show you what the game is like. There is no crafting, no mobs, no adventure, just building in this version, hell it does not even have the lighting engine.

This game looks like utter junk. We have 3 and 4 GB video card and people want to still play a game that uses 256 MB of Video Ram. To each his, or her, own.

It doesn’t even run on Ubuntu 10.10. I get the Minecraft screen and then it goes black.

Obviously you never even played minecraft. The game uses a lot of resources and here’s a hint; it doesn’t come from the aesthetics. Either that or you are just trolling.

@Rickles – It does run on Ubuntu, really well actually. A few files just need replacing in your /$HOME/.minecraft. Google “Minecraft black screen Ubuntu” and you’ll find lots of help to get it working. Also, @Yb… Minecraft is one of the best (if not the best) games ever made.

    PCE!

I’m not a huge fan of Minecraft, but I get the appeal. I play Bethesda adventures, but Minecraft is too big and open for me. I’ve tinkerer with it, and it’s neat, but it’s not really for me. Still, I applaud the developer’s efforts, they’ve really created something special.

I actually like 2D Minecraft better, but it’s browser only. I want it for Android. It has another name, I forget what. Same developer, they made it in 48 hours.
