The Dark Room is a fun reinvention of the choose-your-own-adventure genre–rather than flip pages to find your way through the adventure you select new videos.
The brain child of comedian John Robertson, The Dark Room is a mashup of the choose-your-own-adventure book genre popular in the 1980s with video and narration. Now, instead of flipping between pages to find the next segment of the adventure, you use YouTube’s embedded linking system to wander through a world narrated by the disembodied head of Mr. Robertson.
It’s a fun and quirky time waster, but be forewarned there are a few nuggets of NSFW language/situations tucked away in the game–it’s probably best to play it with headphones on if you’re wasting time in your cube.
