Caffiene Zone Monitors Your Caffeine Intake; Alerts You to Maintain Optimum Buzz

iOS: If you enjoy caffeinated drinks but still wants a goodnight’s sleep, you need Caffiene Zone–a free application that helps you monitor your caffeine consumption to maintain maximum alertness without jitters or sleeplessness.

How does it work? According to the research team behind the application:

Caffeine Zone™ 2 is an iPhone app that monitors, predicts, and displays a user’s caffeine level in real-time based on a pharmacokinetic model and the user’s input of when they consume caffeine. It can be used as an educational tool to teach how to use caffeine products wisely and effectively. It was developed by the ACS Lab at the Penn State University and spun out using a small company with permission of ONR and Penn State. It is based on research sponsored by ONR.

Caffeine Zone™ 2 users can enter their caffeine consumption and the app generates a line chart of predicted caffeine level for the next 24 hours. It also shows a cognitive active zone, an area of level where most people will feel active, and sleep zone, an area of caffeine level where most people will be able to sleep. These values are adjustable. These zones can be changed to represent individual differences.

In essence, you plug in your vital stats (like weight), the caffeine you’re consuming, and then Caffeine Zone goes to work, calculating the rate of burn and the optimum time for you to refuel with more coffee, tea, or cola.

The app is available as a free ad-supported release and a $0.99 ad-free release. Hit up the link below to grab a copy for your iOS device.

@Odin Your comment speaks volumes to your intelligence. Based on your use of the word “him” I assume you are a male yourself, someone who runs windows, refusing to have their life streamlined for them, “because, Principal”. Yes, you can do almost everything that you can do on a mac on a PC, and you can do things on a PC that you can’t do on a mac. However, having to tinker with third party applications for something as simple as an alarm clock on your computer is not what I consider fun. I don’t find that spending my time being frustrated because someone with a little bit of network infrastructure and Windows systems knowledge has discovered how to take hold of the default user account on my machine is something I enjoy. I do not really like dishing out hard earned money for Antivirus because someone with nothing to do and the internet decided to write a virus. Finally, I thoroughly do NOT enjoy having to reinstall my entire OS because I managed to acquire a root-kit.

When you don’t have to figure out a new file system every OS update and things just work, that is when you can just get done to doing what you love; in my case, coding.

    Edit: down, not done.

According to most of the ratings in the app store, it crashes when trying to enter a beverage that isn’t already in the list. Sounds like this might be better after an update.
