Monday Thru Friday: Sometimes innovation is necessary in order to avoid Internet Explorer [via Fail Desk]
Akemi Iwaya (Asian Angel) is our very own Firefox Fangirl who enjoys working with multiple browsers and loves 'old school' role-playing games. Visit her on Twitter and Google+.
Dad is a total novice so I just named the Firefox icon “Internet” and buried the IE icon.
I hide the Firefox and Chrome browsers on my friends computers using the same technique pointing them to IE! It takes them days to figure out they are using Internet Explorer! You have to wonder if the average person actually notices what browser they are using?
Lol deceptive, but I usually will just use portable apps if they don’t want it. Besides, with a portable browser everything is already set exactly how I like it.
:| This comment box loaded… but the one about the new thing with ubuntu wouldn’t.
Confound this IE7! It drives me to [accidental self censorship]
I got most of the house to switch away from IE when I successfully proved that it was the reason that fake “my computer” window kept showing up to install malware. (The one that says all you drives are infected)
My stepdad however… buisness laptop. Installing an alternative is not an option.
This made me smile so hard my teeth showed! :P
My younger sister actually uses Chrome and Fx on her PC, but I use IE when I’m using it. So there. :p
haha did this on a council SOE.. Idiots never had a problem browsing the net again on our hard earned tax dollars!
Not me! I’ve never disguised a different browser with IE’s icon. Cause if they want my help – with anything – they’ll either use Firefox and like it or I threaten to let them fix their own stuff.
I used to do this with Firefox constantly. Until they invented Chrome Portable.
they can fix their own stuff if they’re too lazy to even TRY.
I had to set up the tv. and word. and IE. and Webroot(world’s worst antivirus). and MSE
and I get yelled at for breaking something everytime when it works
For most people, you might as well just rename any browser icon “Facebook” and change the icon to the Facebook logo. There are many people I know that think that Facebook is the only internets out there.
Sounds like me and my husband’s battle. He was winning with Firefox until I purchased SPB Wallet to keep his passwords that did not run in the latest version of Firefox.
lolz ,never occurred to me !!
I have caused a few screams when people see their computer running Linux after they stepped away for “…only like 30 seconds – what did you DO?!”
Ha. A slim little 4GB stick and my chosen persistent tools from the ‘Pen drive linux’ website ftw.
Also good for when that pesky ‘infected computer’ malware takes control of a windoze computer. Malware has no way to defend itself if you boot into Linux.
Yup, I installed Chrome on my mum’s pc and deleted the shortcut. I installed it to C:\System (Not that she would notice!) :)
LOL Like it~
India has the world’s largest postal network with over 154,000 post offices; size is no substitute for speed, however, as despite having the largest postal network in the world, it can still take a long time for a letter to reach its destination.
