While we’re confident How-To Geek readers have a pretty good handle on internet and computer security, it’s often difficult to convey good security practices to friends and relatives. Google’s Good To Know campaign presents security lessons in an easy to understand and non-threatening format.
You know that you need varied and strong passwords, not to fall for fake pop-up anti-virus ads, and to keep your apps properly updated, but it’s difficult to convey the importance of doing so to your non-geek friends and family members. Google’s Good To Know campaign combines simple text lessons and informative videos that are visually appealing and right to the point–they’re a sort of crash course in security best practices. Here’s a video from one of the early lessons:
The campaign is divided into four sections: staying safe online, understanding how your data is used on the web, understanding how your data is used by Google, and how to manage your data online.
